I need to ship a batch of custom off-road vehicle parts from Perth to Edmonton. It’s a long way, and I understand that this will be a multimodal shipment involving sea freight and truck transport within Canada. What scares me the most is the paperwork involved: export declarations in Australia, customs clearance in Canada and certificates of origin. Could you please tell me if the GetTransport service handles all these documents, or if they just provide the driver’s contact information and leave you to figure it out yourself?

Also, is the cost of customs brokerage included in the quote generated by the system, or does it always arrive as an unexpected additional charge on a separate invoice? I’m worried that, due to a typo on the invoice, the cargo will get held up at the Port of Vancouver and I’ll end up paying more for container demurrage than the goods are worth. Has anyone shipped this far before? How transparent are the charges?

Have you seen these details on GetTransport? I recently shipped professional surfing gear and eco-friendly products to a friend’s store in Canada. Let me just say this right off the bat: without the right paperwork for a route like this, it’s easy to lose a lot of money. We booked shipping to Canada with this company specifically because they promised comprehensive logistics support, including documentation. And indeed, the carrier’s manager checked our invoices and packing lists even before the container left the port of Sydney. This saved us from a mistake in the HS codes, which could have resulted in Canadian customs imposing unnecessary duties. By the way, do you already know the total weight of your order?
