I look at the stats and am amazed. It’s 2026, and dozens of new shooters with photorealistic graphics have been released. Yet, the CS 1.6 servers are still packed. Why do you think so many people are ignoring modern games and going back to the classics?

I’ll add my two cents. Modern games like CS2 are way too cluttered. All of those skins, cases, battle passes, and constant updates that take up tens of gigabytes are exhausting. In 1.6, it’s a level playing field: You log in, and your success depends solely on your skills, not how much money you’ve poured into the game. However, it’s difficult to find a reliable source to download the game without unwanted plugins that ruin the experience.

I often think about this, too. I think there are two reasons for it. First, of course, is nostalgia. Second, the gaming industry isn’t in the best shape right now. Most online game developers are more focused on making money than on gameplay. CS 1.6 has long been the gold standard for competitive multiplayer gaming. As for downloading the game, I got it from https://csget.me/ . It’s a clean build and runs smoothly. I’m not old enough to be nostalgic for the original CS, but I wanted to try it. It was a mixed experience, perhaps because it was my first time playing while many people on the servers are veterans. Overall, though, I’m satisfied, it was fun. What do you think of Quake 3?
